Two  goals in two minutes by Alex Canak were enough for Bonnyrigg White Eagles to snatch the three premiership points in Saturday night’s local derby at Bossley Park with  Marconi Stallions on Saturday night, reports Joe Russo.

When the home side scored a goal in the 52nd minute, 2-01 was the scoreline when the match finally ended.

The White Eagles were in total control in the first 45 minutes while the Stallions made the game a much tighter affair in the second stanza.

Twenty minutes inton the game, Bonnyrigg drew first blood when Canak tapped the ball into an open goal after a diagonal cross from the right by Adam Jenner.

The visiting fans didn’t have to wait too long to celebrate again because two minutes later that man Canak struck again when he headed in a corner kick.

The second half started in a much more positive fashion for the Stallions when halftime replacement Anthony Flood with sheer determination in the 52nd minute scored.

After losing the ball he managed to regather, weave through three defenders and dribble past the outstretched goalkeeper James Chronopoulos.

The second half then proceeded to be a grind with both teams not prepared to give an inch.

After the game Brian Brown coach of Bonnyrigg White Eagles spoke about the narrow victory.

In the Marconi dressing room Jeff Suzor was pleased with his side’s second half effort but not so much the first half.

“We were in big trouble in the first half but I thought that we had the better of the second half to be fair,” he said.
