Fun for a good cause: Councillor Gus Balloot, left, with the Mayor, Ned Mannoun

The first Liverpool Mayoral Charity Ball last Saturday night was a huge success with funds raised exceeding expectations.

Liverpool Mayor Ned Mannoun had hoped to raise funds to share between Young Adults Disabled Association (YADA) and the Liverpool Cancer Wellness Centre.

“Due to the generosity of our sponsors and guests, I’m proud to announce that we have raised $50,000,” he said.

“These funds will go a long way towards helping YADA continue its activities and to add to the kitty for the future Liverpool Cancer Wellness Centre.

“This magnificent civic event showcased our pride in our city.

“It was wonderful to have a video message from the Prime Minister on the night.”

More than 300 guests attended the ball and enjoyed performances by singer Altiyan Childs, the High Rollers Big Band, soprano Ballina Gee and Liverpool High School student Rachael Jacob on the grand piano.

Footy Show star Joel Caine and model Melinda Kemp were hosts on the night.

Mayor Mannoun thanked guests, sponsors, performers and Council staff who had pulled out all stops on the night.

“It was a wonderful evening and your enthusiasm for our great city shone through,” Mayor Mannoun said.

“Once the word gets out about how much fun last Saturday was, I know we’ll have sponsors, businesses and the community knocking on our door for a ticket to next year’s ball.

“This is set to become a major annual event.

“Thank you to everyone who made it such a great night.”

Sponsors of the night included:

  • Gold: Abacus Property Group
  • Silver: PricewaterhouseCoopers, TAFE South Western Sydney Institute, Masters Home Improvement
  • Bronze: Casula Mall, Direct Freight, Liverpool Catholic Club, Chan & Naylor, Peter Warren Automotive.
