Gold: the winning Marsdens basketball team in the 2015 Corporate Games

The main aim of the annual Corporate Games is to compete in sport events to raise money for a great cause.

Firms from across the metropolitan area enter teams in various sporting challenges, from which funds are raised for the Cancer Council.

The Cancer Council support cancer patients as well as their families, to ensure that no one faces cancer diagnosis alone. They fund research developments, implement prevention strategies and deliver education programs to help the community reduce their risk of cancer.

The 2015 Corporate Games were held last week (March 19-22) in various venues across Sydney and one well known south west Sydney firm – Marsdens Law Group – was a standout on and off the field.

Marsdens didn’t just help raise valuable funds by participating in the track and field and basketball events: they won gold and silver medals in both the athletics and basketball.

Family Law Partner Tom Reeve brought home the gold in the men’s 10 kilometre run and Michelle Delaney finished second for a silver medal in the 5km women’s run.

Local Government, Land & Environment Partner Adam Seton and Wade Thomas, Associate in the Marsdens Property Department, represented the firm in the Open Men’s Basketball Tournament at Auburn Basketball Stadium.

Adam and Wade brought home the gold when the Marsdens team defeated another law firm, Ashurst, in the final, 23 – 18.

Team captain Wade rolled out the sporting clichés after their triumph.

“There were a few close games, but our team held together and played strong,’’ he said.
