As part of the Alliance Française French Film Festival’s travelling program, Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre will play host to two fascinating films and all things French.
The films to be screened at Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre are Belier Family 7.30pm next Thursday, April 9 and Chance Encounter at the same time on the day after, Friday, April 10, as part of the festival’s closing events alongside other venues including Byron Bay and Hobart.
Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre director Kiersten Fishburn said: We’re the only venue in South West Sydney screening such cutting edge cinema, which is exciting.
“We are sure this will help build and satiate growing South West Sydney film lovers, and assist in developing a thriving screen culture in the local area,” Kiersten said.
Liverpool City Mayor, Ned Mannoun, said: “It’s great news to hear that Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre, the South West’s premier art facility has been selected as the only South West Sydney venue to host this esteemed festival. “Having a world-class arts facility that can develop and maintain strong links with credible festivals such as this one is what makes Casula Powerhouse so unique,” he said.
“It makes programs such as these more accessible to South West Sydney than ever before.’’
Ms Fishburn said that the screenings “are bound to attract plenty of interest from audiences with two very captivating, relatable and thought provoking narratives, while showcasing a dose of French culture.’’
Ms Dishburn also congratulated the Alliance Française French Film Festival on celebrating 26 years saying that she was pleased Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre was one of the nationally selected host venues.
“Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre is too celebrating a significant milestone this year with the anniversary of 21 years of operation, making this a perfect partnership,” Ms Fishburn said.
The annual festival is a collaboration between the Embassy of France in Australia and six Alliances Françaises around the country and is proudly supported by Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre.
It is not only the biggest foreign film festival in Australia; it is also the biggest festival of French films outside of France.
The French Film Festival is a highly anticipated and extremely popular event on the Australian cultural calendar.
