Homelessness does not discriminate between men and women.
But it’s a fact of life homeless women have sanitary and hygiene needs that are different from homeless men.
Share The Dignity is a charity that’s trying to do something about it.
One of its big supporters is right here in Campbelltown, local MP Greg Warren.
He is again calling on local residents and businesses in Campbelltown to donate female sanitary and hygiene products at his Queen Street electorate office in support of the Share the Dignity campaign.
“Share the Dignity is a fantastic national charity that also does great work supporting local women in need here in Macarthur.
“I’d like to thank all the generous local residents who have donated over five bins full of tampons and pads since I first started running this in my office in 2016.
“I’m encouraging as many donations as possible.
“Donating can be as simple as buying an extra packet of pads or tampons the next time you’re at the supermarket and dropping them off.
[social_quote duplicate=”no” align=”default”]“It’s something that most people probably don’t even stop to think about, but homeless women are often left without these basic and essential products while living on the streets,’’ Mr Warren said.[/social_quote]
Share The Dignity is a not-for-profit registered charity providing homeless and at-risk women nationally with sanitary products to allow them a sense of dignity at a time when they need it the most.
Share The Dignity believes that access to sanitary items is a right not a privilege.
Dignity Drive will be run during the month of August with the aim of making a difference for a homeless or at-risk women.
Mr Warren is hosting a collection point in his electorate office, and is encouraging as many donations as possible to support local women in a time of great need.
Donations of sanitary and hygiene products can be made at Mr Warren’s office at Shop 3, 72 Queen Street, Campbelltown, during business hours Monday to Friday.
