It’s been a tough year for high school students, especially those in Year 12.

But like most other people they have kept at it and now six Macarthur female students have won recognition for their efforts.

They have been named as the winners of the annual awards presented by the Zonta Club.

The awards recognized the achievements of students through the year in various categories.

Georgia Biaggini, who is in Year 12 at Hurlstone Agricultural High School, received the NSW and ACT, District 24, Zonta achievement award for a young indigenous woman.

Georgia also took out the Zonta Club of Macarthur award for the same category.

A Zonta spokesperson said Georgia’s achievement and dedication to her studies were “outstanding’’.

The winner of the 2020 Zonta Club of Macarthur young women in public affairs award was Year 12 student Francesca Smith, also of Hurlstone Agricultural High School.

Breanna Craig, Elderslie High School, who was named runner up, is also in Year 12.

Scarlet Keeley and Kiara Willatt from Elizabeth Macarthur High School and Jody Stevenson from Elderslie High School also received recognition for their commitment to their Year 12 studies in the Zonta Club of Macarthur achievement award for a young indigenous woman.

“We wish them all lots of success in their future studies and careers,’’ the Zonta spokesperson said.
