Women of Macarthur tell their inspiring stories

The region’s largest retail centre, Macarthur Square, has strongly backed 2019 International Women’s Day, a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievement of women.

The Macarthur Square contribution started on Monday when Kellicar Lane was filled with both men and women from various parts of Macarthur Square, from retailers to centre management, security and cleaning services.

They all stood together as equals doing the hands out pose to reflect the #balanceforbetter campaign created by the official International Women’s Day initiative this year.

This photo moment, above, kicked off the celebrations surrounding International Women’s Day in Macarthur Square.

As part of this involvement in International Women’s Day, an online video was also created to celebrate and draw attention to the hard working and inspiring women of Macarthur Square.

These “Women of Macarthur” were profiled in a series of videos to be shared with the community and were chosen after an internal call to action was distributed, inviting all women from Macarthur Square to participate in the video series.

They could either self nominate or be nominated by colleagues.

The women selected represent the diverse range of women, some of who have worked at the centre for more than 10 years.

They were asked a series of questions and invited to answer as they wish.

Their inspiring messages can be viewed here.

The final part of the celebrations of International Women’s Day at Macarthur Square will be a free morning tea open to the public this Friday, March 8.
