Another piece of the Western Sydney Airport jigsaw has fallen into place following the appointment of architects for the adjoining business park at Badgerys Creek.
Western Sydney Airport chief executive Graham Millett said Australian firm Architectus has been selected to design the huge business park on 191 hectares of prime airport real estate.
“There will be opportunities for businesses to be at the terminal’s doorstep at what will become Australia’s largest international gateway,” Mr Millett said.
“When the airport opens in 2026, it will be built for 10 million passengers a year, but we’ve got a blueprint for staged growth to become one of the world’s biggest airports in the decades to follow and our business park will be a key feature,” he said.
The business park will offer the opportunity to integrate office, retail, industrial, hotels and conference facilities within 1.5 kilometres of the airport terminal.
Located on the 1,780-hectare airport site, with a dedicated stop on the Sydney Metro Western Sydney Airport north-south rail line servicing the business park, the airport’s business park will be built with a focus on connectivity, sustainability and the wellbeing of the workers.
“Workforce amenity is critical in attracting leading businesses,’’ Mr Millett said.
“The precinct will feature open space, outdoor wellness areas, attractive landscaping and great connectivity from the business park to the terminal.

“We’re also planning to take advantage of 5G capability across the airport site.”
Mr Millett said he expects interest in the airport’s business park to come from a range of different industries.
“Consultants, tech companies, defence and aerospace, airlines and pharmaceutical are just some of the industries that would enjoy considerable advantage being located at the airport’s front door,” he said.
“Sydney CBD businesses looking to establish themselves in the state’s highest growth corridor would see the airport’s business park as a key opportunity to make the move.”
Master planning work on the airport business park is expected to be complete in mid-2019. Work to build Western Sydney Airport began in September, with the business park set to open before airport operations begin in 2026.
According to the federal government the business park will bring around 4,400 new jobs to what will become the heart of outer west and south west Sydney.
Of the 200,000 jobs estimated across Western Sydney as part of the City Deal, about 28,000 will stem directly from the airport including about 4,400 jobs in the business park. Cities, urban infrastructure and population minister Alan Tudge said the business park will attract interest “from both Australian and international businesses”.
