Train graffiti lands pair in court to face raft of charges

Two men have been arrested over spray painting that caused $2,500 worth of damage to a train at Leppington station.

The pair, aged 29 and 35, will face a raft of graffiti related offences when they appear in Campbelltown Local Court on July 13.

Both have been granted bail until their appearance in court.

Responding to reports two males were spray painting train carriages, police went to Leppington train station around 8.35pm on Thursday.

When officers attached to Police Transport and Public Safety Command arrived, they saw two males spray painting carriages in a holding yard.

Once they were arrested, the two men were taken to Narellan Police Station.

Upon searching them, police allege they found and seized spray cans, balaclavas, cameras, phones, SD cards, sketches, and clothing.

The younger man was charged with double count of all the offences below:

Face blackened/disguised, commit indictable offence.

Armed with intent, commit indictable offence.

Malicious damage in company.

Enter running lines, trespass and enter/leave station not at designated entry/exit point.

Police will allege the younger man was involved in an additional graffiti related offence committed at Campbelltown train station on Tuesday (June 21).

The older man was charged with:

Face blackened/disguised, commit indictable offence.

Armed with intent, commit serious indictable offence.

Malicious damage in company, enter running lines, trespass and enter/leave station not at designated entry/exit point.

  1. Great work Officers, now let’s see if Magistrates have the intenstinal fortitude to make the punishment worthwhile and act as a deterrent to others, but I very much doubt it.
