This year's guided tours of Dharawal national park
This year’s guided tours of Dharawal national park will be bigger and better.

Indigenous walking tours of Campbelltown’s beautiful Dharawal National Park will be bigger and better when they resume next month.

The number of tours being held this year has doubled, with two sessions held each month, and two new types of tours – for parents with small children, and people in wheelchairs or mobility scooters – have also been added.

The guided walks are held on the second Saturday of every month between February and November and provide a wonderful look at the beautiful Australian landscape within our local national park, from a Koori perspective.

The tours are led by National Parks Aboriginal Discovery Rangers, who share personal insights as they take participants on a cultural journey.

Mayor of Campbelltown, Cr George Brticevic, said the tours gave national park visitors the opportunity to learn more about Indigenous heritage and gain an appreciation of the natural gem Campbelltown has in its backyard.

“Dharawal National Park is a spectacular place for a day in the great outdoors, with walking and bike tracks, waterfalls and swimming holes, scenic lookouts and the chance to spot native flora and fauna,” he said.

“It’s not surprising the guided indigenous walking tours are so popular, and I’m very pleased that even more people will now have the opportunity to enjoy the experience, with the addition of two new types of tours to this year’s schedule.”

The “stroll about’’ tours have been specially designed for parents with toddlers and young children in strollers, and the accessible tours have been created for people in wheelchairs or mobility scooters.

The tours take 90 minutes and tickets are $10 per person.

Bookings are essential and places are strictly limited. Wear comfortable walking shoes and a hat, and bring a bottle of water and sunscreen.

Bookings are available online here.
