Will it be you this year? Mayor Paul Lake with last year’s gardening competition winners

C’mon all you green thumbs out there, don’t be late bloomers.

The annual Campbelltown City Garden competition is under way and with spring in the air, it’s the perfect time to reveal your gardening flair and win great prizes.

This year’s competition promises to be better than ever, with prizes totalling almost $5000.

Judging will take place between September 14 and 30, when flowering gardens will be in full bloom.

The competition is open to all Campbelltown Local Government Area residents, schools and businesses. Entries close Monday, September 7.

Categories include Best New Garden, Most Unusual Garden, Best Sustainable Garden, Best Native Garden, Best Small/Medium Garden, Best Large Garden, Best Senior Citizen Garden, Best Backyard, Best Edible Garden, Best Commercial/Industrial Garden and Best Educational Garden.

There is also the Anne Haddock Best Cottage Garden category, which was introduced last year in memory of one of the competition’s most successful past entrants.

Mayor of Campbelltown, Cr Paul Lake, said the Campbelltown City Garden Competition acknowledged the importance of greenery and living colour, on our streets and in our backyards.

“The annual competition celebrates the passion and dedication of our gardeners, and recognises that gardens bring people and communities together.
