A little bit of Hollywood razzmatazz is coming to Campbelltown this Friday night at Event Cinemas.

The premiere of The Blind Sea will be a black tie, red carpet affair to celebrate the big Campbelltown connection to this moving documentary film about a blind surfer’s moment of truth.

Proud Campbelltown local Daniel Fenech wrote, directed and edited The Blind Sea, while his partner, Erin, was executive producer.

The Fenechs are behind Brick Studios, a film production company which also was involved in the making of cult Aussie film Christmess.

This Friday, as part of the premiere of The Blind Sea at Event Cinemas, Daniel Fenech will lead a Q&A with the audience.

There is also a schools session planned for the morning of Friday, August 16, at 10.30am, with a Q&A also included as part of the experience, with both Erin and Daniel taking part.

Local teachers interested in attending with their students can simply book tickets through the Event Cinemas website for the morning screening of The Blind Sea.

“This is an opportunity for senior students studying filmmaking to see a locally produced movie that is blowing up around the country and ask questions on how we made things – or they can ask for help on their own projects too,’’ says Daniel Fenech.

The Blind Sea stars blind surfer Matt Formston, who decides to take on the world’s biggest waves in a place called Nazare, Portugal.

The film was a finalist in the documentary category of the 2024 Sydney Film Festival.

The full house sign went up when it was shown at the festival, and at a special screening at the Sydney Opera House.

But now it’s Campbelltown’s turn for a bit of Hollywood glamour, so book your tickets to The Blind Sea screening and Q&A at Event Cinemas Campbelltown at www.eventcinemas.com.au/Movie/The-Blind-Sea
