Tell your local MP what you really think

Russell Matheson will be at Ruse for an hour tomorrow, from 11am.

It seems Campbelltown Council will take the fight to the Wests Tigers over the sports centre of excellence controversy. Strong word around town is that it is having serious talks with South Sydney and maybe a second Sydney club about moving into the facility when it is built. Apparently council has discovered there are 5,000 Rabbitohs supporters in the area and so the club could be a good fit for Campbelltown and Macarthur. Personally, I don’t get what the fuss is of the Tigers maybe going to Liverpool to do their gym work – so long it’s in the south west, who cares where exactly?

♦ The federal member for Macarthur Russell Matheson will be at the Ruse Village shopping centre tomorrow morning, so if you’re nearby he invites you to “drop in for a chat’’ and let him know the issues that matter to you the most. He will be there for around an hour from 11am and until noon. We were planning to go and tackle him about the lack of NBN in Kentlyn, but that won’t be necessary now as Matheson himself sent a note around to local residents this week to let them know the NBN is on the way. Although we may still go tackle him about when it will come to Kentlyn, because his note did not say.

♦ John Anderson, the chairman of RAID, the residents group opposed to the Moorebank intermodal, sent the following cheeky note to Dr Kerry Schott, chair of Moorebank Intermodal Company, whose tenure had just been extended for three years:

“I wish to personally congratulate you on your reappointment as chair of the Moorebank Intermodal Company for a further 3 years.  It is requested that you forward to me a copy of the traffic modelling which you referred to when I asked you to confirm that the local road network would run 53 percent over the local road network.’’

♦ Do you fancy yourself as the next Adam Scott or Greg Norman? Do you love supporting great local causes? Then look no further. The Wattle Grove Lions are looking for teams to have an enjoyable day of golf. The mighty Lions are organising their second Tee Off for Autism and Charity fundraising 18 hole ambrose golf day next Friday, August 21 at New Brighton golf course. All money raised will go towards children with autism, so please help them out if you can. If you can’t make the golf, you can help by attending the dinner afterwards, between 6 and 9pm. Contact Tiffany on 0421 927 198. Or email wattlegrovelions@gmail.com

♦ The NSW Police are currently celebrating 100 years of women in policing and are holding many events. One of them is a Baton Relay, and it will come to Liverpool next week, on Wednesday, August 19 in Bigge Park. For more details watch this space. One of the unfortunate  consequences of having so many events to celebrate this milestone is that this year’s combined Liverpool Rotary clubs police officer of the year night will clash with the main dinner in Sydney, so for the first time in many years the Police Commissioner will not be coming to Liverpool. But there will still be plenty of top brass in attendance at the Tuesday, September 1 night at the Liverpool Catholic Club so it will be safe to attend.
