Time is starting to run out for the Wests Tigers after several defeat on the trot, including the 18-14 loss to the Panthers at the Parramatta stadium on Sunday.
This was the second loss in a row by four points, which must give coach Benji Marshall some hope that a change of fortuna is not far away.
After a bye this weekend, the Tigers will host Canberra Raiders at Campbeltown on Friday, June 20, with an 8pm kick off in round 16.
There’s a good chance that there could be two Mays named in the team to face the rampaging green machine: Terrell and Taylan, who has just signed a a train and trial agreement for the rest of the 2025 season.
The NRL conditionally approved Taylan’s return to the game after charges against him were withdrawn earlier this year.
The talented centre or winger has started training with the Wests Tigers, with the intention of playing in the future should training and off-field standards be met.
Wests Tigers CEO Shane Richardson said he believed the signing was a good outcome for both the club and Taylan.
“Clearly, Taylan is a quality player who will further strengthen our squad in the back end of the competition,” he said.
“But we also believe his best chance of success on and off the field is if he is around family and friends.
He will now have the chance to not only return to a team environment but also to play alongside his brother Terrell – which is important to him.”
Mr Richardson said the Wests Tigers key community program, Empower, focused on respectful relationships.
“So Taylan, like all our players, will be joining a club which has a culture of putting healthy relationships first,” he said.
“Taylan has made enormous strides since we first met with him 10 weeks ago through voluntarily attending education and counselling sessions.
“All players deserve a second chance and we think this is the environment which gives him the best chance of success both on and off the field.”
Mr Richardson said Taylan’s contract would be reviewed at the end of the year.
