Top student: Madison Tidmarsh receives her award from MP Greg Warren at assembly last week.

Madison Tidmarsh is one of three Aboriginal students in the Airds High School’s Gifted and Talented program.

The Year 10 student has also shown leadership as a senior member of the Airds High School Junior Aboriginal Education Committee Group (AECG).

The AECG empowers Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students through active participation in school decision making.

It also provides a forum for Aboriginal students to be heard and works actively to promote school spirit.

Madison Tidmarsh also happens to be a very talented athlete, in rugby league, netball and track and field.

She has representing her school in regional competitions across multiple disciplines in track and field.

Madison also excels in netball, and has represented both her school team and Sydney South West.

She played rugby league in the 2015 Nations of Origin Football competition, where she was a key factor in the success of her team, The Lyrebirds.

Last week Madison was named Local Aboriginal Student of 2016 for the Campbelltown area.

The State Member for Campbelltown, Greg Warren, presented the award to Madison in an assembly at Airds High School.

“Through her actions and attitude, Madison has set an example not just for young Aboriginal students, but for all young students in the Campbelltown area.

“Like her mum, dad, school and friends, I couldn’t be more proud of her.”
