Local colleges will use the 2017 open week at Macarthur Square to demonstrate that TAFE has embraced the future.

“Whether you’re looking for a career in technology, fashion, horticulture, aged care or construction, come and discover TAFE NSW’s vast array of courses, of which there are more than 1,200, from certificates to degrees,’’ says Peter Roberts, institute director of TAFE South Western Sydney Institute (SWSi).

“This is a great opportunity to receive one-on-one course advice, meet teachers, see live demonstrations, go on campus tours and learn how TAFE NSW, the state’s leading education and skills training provider, can help secure you a job and find a career you love.

“The world is changing and TAFE NSW is evolving with it.

“We are investing in the future of education with innovative technology for learning which ensures our students are job ready wherever they live or work,” Mr Roberts said.

TAFE NSW is opening its doors during January 16-20 to showcase its innovative approach to high quality education and training that enables students to get jobs and careers for the future.

Open Week will be the first time TAFE NSW holds a collaborative state-wide event that is expected to attract more than 40,000 people.

SWSi will be joining with nine other TAFE institutes across more than 130 campuses throughout NSW, to collectively highlight TAFE NSW’s extensive facilities, course offerings, employer partnerships, world class training and technology.

Students will be able to talk to graduates and discuss job opportunities.

The week will feature live activations and demonstrations as well as interactive signature events.

The SWSi highlight is almost certain to be a pop up by the famous Knafeh bearded bakers.

They will be dropping by on Thursday, January 19, between 5pm and 9pm at Kellicar Lane.

The bearded bakers will be bringing along dessert, dancing and a good time.

Don’t miss the chance to meet them and get some delicious Knafeh.

Other Open Week highlights will include animal care students working at a wildlife sanctuary and hospital, a virtual band rehearsal enabling interaction with recording artists, games development and a robotics demonstration, all of which will be live-streamed through Facebook.
