Man charged over stabbing of French Bulldogs at Edmondson Park

A man who has been charged with a string of offences after allegedly breaking into an Edmondson Park home and stabbing two French Bulldogs will appear in court today.

Police will allege in court that about 5.30pm on Saturday, September 19, a woman was in the lounge room of her Hartlepool Road home when a man entered the premises.

After a brief conversation, the man – who is known to the occupant – walked outside to the backyard where he found two dogs.

He allegedly removed a knife from his pocket and stabbed both dogs before leaving the premises.

Police were called and officers from Liverpool City Police Area Command attended the home and commenced an investigation.

Last Sunday, September 27, a 31-year-old man was arrested at a home on Dunlop Street, Roselands.

He was taken to Bankstown Hospital where he was admitted for a mental health assessment.

After allegedly assaulting two security guards and a nurse at the hospital, he was transferred to Liverpool Hospital for treatment.

About 11.30am yesterday (Friday, October 2), he was released from hospital into the custody of police.

He was taken to Liverpool Police Station where he was charged with several offences.

They included torture, beat and seriously injure an animal, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and stalking and intimidation.

He was refused bail and will appear in Parramatta Bail Court today, Saturday, October 3.

The French Bulldogs are recovering from their injuries and remain in a veterinary hospital under care.
