It’s a cliché but true: there will be something for everyone at this year’s Camden Festival.
The festival will kick off withPicnic in the Park on Sunday, September 8 at Macarthur Park, Camden.
Residents are encouraged to bring a picnic rug or chairs and relax in the beautiful surrounds of the park.
Live acoustic entertainment, delicious treats from food stalls, jumping castle, garden games and face painting are just some of what will be on offer.
For the big kids (aged 12 to 25 years) looking for some adventure, council’s monthly skateboarding clinic will be held on Saturday, September 14.
This free clinic, run by professional skateboard coach, Adam Luxford from Skateology, will teach participants the very basics of skateboarding, like proper foot placement, as well as some more advanced tricks.
The use of helmets, skateboards and other protective equipment are all included.
The ultimate day for toddlers (up to five years), will also return this year.
Kids Fun Day will be held on Wednesday, September 18 at Narellan Sports Hub.
The kiddie wonderland will include special performances by Peppa Pig, roving entertainment, visit from Batman in his Batmobile, animal farm, jumping castles, face painting, hair spraying and free barbecue lunch.
Mayor of Camden, Cr Theresa Fedeli, said September was set to be an exciting month for residents.
“We really transform Camden into one big celebration next month. It’s lively, bright and filled with excitement,” Cr Fedeli said.
“And with all the events held in different parts of the Camden area, it’s a great opportunity for new residents to experience different places and see what the broader Camden has to offer.”
There’s lots more planned for the broader Camden Festival, including:
- Unlock Camden, which kicks off on Saturday 7 September. In celebration of History Week, Council is providing residents with a number of opportunities to learn about the heritage of the Camden district;
- Seniors Lunch @ Camden Civic Centre on Wednesday 11 September;
- Cinema Under the Stars on Saturday 14 September at The Australian Botanic Garden, Mount Annan;
