Man in court: Police pursuit after Mt Pritchard break and enter

crimestoppers2A man will appear in court today to face a string of charges over a police pursuit that took place after an alleged break and enter at a home in Mount Pritchard yesterday morning.

About 7.10am officers from Traffic and Highway Patrol Command stopped a car on the northbound off-ramp of the M1, Berowra, after the driver was allegedly reversing down the ramp.

Police spoke to the driver, and further checks revealed the vehicle had been allegedly stolen from a home on Meadows Road, Mount Pritchard, the same morning.

The man allegedly resisted arrest, before driving from the scene. A pursuit ensued southbound on the M1, then south along the Pacific Highway, Wahroonga.

Officers attached to Kuring Gai Local Area Command and Traffic and Highway Patrol Command lost sight of vehicle, before locating it after the man allegedly crashed into the front yard of a home in Wahroonga.

A search of the area resulted in the man being found in a home on the same street. He was arrested and taken to Hornsby Police Station, where he was charged with:

– Aggravated break, enter and steal

– Break and enter

– Take and drive conveyance without consent

– Drive while disqualified

– Pursuit (Skye’s Law)

– Drive in manner dangerous to public, and

– Three counts of trespass.

The 21-year-old man was refused bail, to appear at Parramatta Local Court today.

Man, 42, charged with lighting fires in Sandy Point

• In a separate incident, a man will face court today after being charged with deliberately lighting fires in Sandy Point last night.

About 8.40pm police attended bushland on Heathcote Road, Sandy Point, to assist the Rural Fire Service with a number of fires.

Fire fighters told police they could hear shouting coming from near the blaze.

With the assistance of PolAir, police located a 42-year-old man trying to manoeuvre a vehicle which had become stuck on a rock.

As they approached, officers allegedly located chemical containers outside the vehicle and a petrol container inside the vehicle.

Police will allege that as they attempted to arrest the man he assaulted an officer and a fire fighter.

He was charged with two counts of intimidating and assaulting a police officer in execution of his duty, and intentionally cause a fire and be reckless as to its spread.

He was also refused bail to appear at Parramatta Bail Court later today.

All fires were extinguished, with no property damage and no injuries.

Mobile phone handed in at Green Valley leads to child pornography charges

• A  22 year old man will face court later this month after allegedly being found in possession of child pornography.

In November 2015 police launched an investigation after a mobile phone was handed in at Green Valley Police Station, which contained a number of child pornographic images.

Following inquiries by police from Green Valley and Deniliquin Local Area Commands, a 22-year-old man was arrested in Deniliquin on Friday.

During a search of the man’s home in Deniliquin, police seized two mobile phones and a laptop, which allegedly contained child pornographic images.

The man was charged with three counts of producing, disseminating or possessing child abuse material.

He has been granted strict conditional bail and is due to appear at Deniliquin Local Court on Tuesday, January 19.
