Camden toddler, 2, fighting for life after near drowning

crimestoppers2A two year old boy was fighting for his life after a near drowning incident at Camden South last night.

Emergency services were called to a home on Smart Street about 6.30pm, after the toddler was pulled from a backyard pool.

NSW Ambulance Paramedics attended and treated the boy before he was airlifted to The Children’s Hospital at Westmead in a critical condition.

Officers from Camden Local Area Command attended the location commenced an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Investigators are appealing for anyone with information that may assist with their inquiries, and have not yet spoken to police, to contact Narellan Police Station on 4632 4499 or Crime Stoppers.

Scout leader charged with indecent assault

A man has been charged following an indecent assault of a teenage girl at a scout jamboree at Cataract Dam.

A 14-year-old girl reported to a scout leader last Monday (January 4) that she had been indecently assaulted by a male team leader while at an event at Cataract Dam earlier that day.

Police were advised of the incident last Friday (January 8) and detectives from Campbelltown Local Area Command attended and commenced an investigation.

A 63-year-old Western Australian man was arrested on Saturday and was taken to Campbelltown Police Station, where he was charged with aggravated indecent assault of a child under 16 – while under authority.

The man appeared in court yesterday where he was granted strict conditional bail and is due to reappear at Campbelltown Local Court on January 13.

Two in hospital after M7 crash

Two men have been taken to hospital after a crash involving two vehicles travelling the same direction on the M7 yesterday morning.

The crash occurred about 2.30am when a Toyota Landcruiser hit the back of a stationary black Mercedes.

The driver of the Mercedes, a 27-year-old man from Condell Park, and his front-seat passenger, a 21-year-old man from Revesby, were taken to Westmead Hospital with suspected fractures.

The driver of the Toyota, a 26-year-old man from Milperra, was also taken to Westmead Hospital as a precaution.

Police believe there may have been another dark coloured vehicle stopped beside the Mercedes before the impact; investigators are keen to speak with anyone with information about this vehicle.
