A seven-year-old child and a baby were in a Narellan home yesterday where police allegedly found a loaded firearm on a table in the living room.
Two people were arrested and charged with firearms offences, including endangering life, after the illegal firearm was seized.
About 12.15pm yesterday, Wednesday, January 24, police officers from the Camden Local Area Command executed a search warrant at a home in Queen Street, Narellan.
Police allegedly located and seized a prohibited firearm and slingshot, ammunition and an amount of cannabis at the premises.
A 28-year-old woman was arrested at the scene, while a 36-year-old man was arrested at another address later in the day.
Both the man and woman were taken to Narellan Police Station and charged with multiple offences including:
• Possession of an unauthorised firearm;
• Not keeping a firearm safe;
• Possession of a loaded firearm – endanger life;
• Possession of ammunition;
• Possession of a prohibited drug;
• Possession of a prohibited weapon.
The man and woman were refused bail and were due to appear in Campbelltown Local Court today (Thursday, January 25).
Police said the Department of Family and Community Services (FACS) have been notified.
