Liverpool deputy mayor Peter Ristevski has congratulated seven young business people who graduated from a local entrepreneurs’ program.

The Young Entrepreneurs Success (YES) program is delivered jointly by Liverpool City Council and the South West Sydney Business Enterprise Centre.

“This program links local business elders with young business owners who can learn from their wisdom and experience,” Cr Ristevski said.

“Council recognises that a large percentage of businesses fail in their first year, so we want to do what we can to support start-ups in Liverpool, so they have every chance of success.”

Liverpool’s economy is growing with the announcement of the Liverpool International Airport, and new businesses are on the rise.

To meet the needs of the future, Council’s $15 million Building Our New City program aims to transform the Liverpool City Centre into a vibrant hub for jobs, entertainment and services.

The YES program is another important part of council’s strategy to encourage local business growth and attract new business to the area. It has been specifically tailored to assist entrepreneurs from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.

“These young graduates have the drive and energy needed to start up a new business and make it successful,” Cr Ristevski said.

“Thanks to the local business owners who took them under their wing and gave them the tools they need to be successful.

“I wish them all the best. Their success is Liverpool’s success.”

The graduates from the program are:

·         Malin Wiander – Vantage Point Recruitment

·         Hugh Vu – Webflair Technology

·         William Tran – Good Web Design

·         Dean Cvetkosi – Cornelius Designs
