See in the new year at Campbelltown’s new year’s eve celebrations this Wednesday night.

This New Year’s Eve, keep it local and celebrate close to home at Campbelltown City Council’s annual fun, safe and family-friendly festivities in Koshigaya Park this Wednesday, December 31.

Kicking off from 7pm, the free event offers a huge night of staged entertainment, carnival rides, food stalls and two rounds of spectacular fireworks displays to light up the night sky – at 9pm and midnight.

The kids will love Peppa Pig and her charming hosts in their ‘Taking Turns’ Show, which will have everyone on their feet to jump in muddy puddles, eat chocolate cake and beep the horn of Daddy Pig’s car.

For the older revellers, four high-energy, vibrant acts will rock the night away. Bring in the new year with the unique turnstyle sounds of We Play Records, tunes from versatile covers band Smooth Jive Consultants, the modern country rock of Jay Seeney and the bursting energy of the Rubber Band Rock Show.

Mayor of Campbelltown, Cr Paul Lake, said New Year’s Eve was one of the city’s most popular community events, offering a great night of free entertainment for people of all ages.

“What better way to celebrate than with family and friends at a convenient and central location in the heart of our city,” Cr Lake said.

“Bring a picnic rug and find the best vantage point in the park – whether in front of the main stage or near the giant screen that displays all of the on-stage action.

“With a fantastic entertainment line-up and two spectacular fireworks displays, our New Year’s Eve celebrations are a great chance to keep it local and show your support for one of Campbelltown’s most exciting and thriving community events,” Cr Lake added.

The event is drug and alcohol free.

Residents are reminded that fireworks can easily scare animals, and that if their pet tends to be frightened by loud noises, it’s best to keep them restrained or inside the house on New Year’s Eve.
