Liverpool fire fighters will get two new RFS trucks

Two new Rural Fire Service (RFS) fire trucks will be delivered as part of the Liverpool area’s share of almost $1.7 million in bushfire protection for the community.

The local investment is part of a wider $314.6 million allocated to the Rural Firefighting Fund in the NSW Government’s 2015/16 budget.

The funding includes new Category 1 Village Crew Cab Fire Trucks for both Casula RFS and Hoxton Park RFS.

Melanie Gibbons MP, the State Member for Holsworthy, which covers much of the Liverpool local government area,  said this investment was critical to local RFS firefighters and will play a key role in keeping residents safe.

“The devastating effects of bushfires are never far from our minds, particularly in the lead-up to summer,’’ Ms Gibbons said.

“It’s great to see that RFS brigades in the local area will benefit from this funding and support their efforts in keeping our community safe.

Superintendent of the Macarthur District Rural Fire Service Paul Norton said the investment in the Liverpool area is not only a boost to the local brigades but also the local community.

“Further, the allocation will allow us to complete the new Middleton Rural Fire Service Station, west Hoxton Park and give a new home to the Macarthur Catering group as well as Middleton Brigade.

“We will continue to work with Melanie Gibbons and Liverpool Council to develop local projects throughout the Liverpool area,” Supt Norton said.
