Slow and steady progress is being made to meet growing demand for schools in the booming outer South Western Sydney region.

Member for Camden Peter Sidgreaves says that the construction tender for the stage two upgrade at Gledswood Hills Public School has now closed.

He also confirmed that the initial planning stage for a new primary school in Gregory Hills is now complete.

“The next step is to formally commence the statutory planning approval process for the delivery of new primary school in Gregory Hills, delivering state of the art facilities for the future students,” he said.

The school, which will be located at Gregory Hills Drive, will include fit-for-purpose learning spaces and core facilities for up to 1,000 students, supporting the growing area.

On Gledswood Hills Public School, pictured above, Mr Sidgreaves said stage two formed part of the original State Significant Development (SSD) application which was approved and enabled delivery of the school in 2020.

“This means that construction can start once the detailed design phase is finished and the main works contract is awarded, which we anticipate will be mid-2022,” he said.

The project will deliver an additional 20 flexible learning spaces and an expansion of the existing on-site car parking to 75 spaces. Stage one included a hall, library, canteen and 24 classrooms.

The community is invited to an information booth at Gledswood Hills Public School on Wednesday, March 30 from 3pm to 5pm to ask questions and learn more about the upgrade.

Minister for Education Sarah Mitchell said she was delighted to see that both Stage 2 of Gledswood Hills Public School and the planning for the new primary school in Gregory Hills were progressing.

“We are working hard to provide schools with modern facilities designed specifically for their community,” Ms Mitchell said.
