We love it: MP Greg Warren with Heather Kilgour, the director of Campbelltown community pre-school at the official opening of a new outdoor area playing surface and equipment.

The outdoor play equipment area at Campbelltown community preschool has been given a new lease on life.

The upgrade included having the outdoor playing surface removed and replaced with soft-fall rubber surfaces, which will ensure safety and comfort for children.

The upgrade comes as the preschool recently celebrated its 70th anniversary in Campbelltown, and will ensure the facility is able to continue for many more generations to come.

Funding for the work, which cost $30,000, was equally shared between the NSW Government and Campbelltown City Council.

Last week, Campbelltown MP Greg Warren, who supported the preschool’s grant application, joined staff, parents and students at the preschool for the official opening of the upgraded outdoor play area.

Mr Warren said that he was thrilled to see this investment in one of Campbelltown’s oldest and most iconic educational institutions.

“The community building partnership program delivers some great outcomes for community groups and organisations in Campbelltown, and the community preschool is certainly no exception,’’ he said.

“When I visited the preschool late last year I spoke with staff about the need for an upgrade of the outdoor playing surfaces, so when I saw their name come up in the list of grant applications it really was a no-brainer to support them.

[social_quote duplicate=”no” align=”default”]“This is a great project that will benefit Campbelltown’s kids for many more years to come, and I want to congratulate everyone at Campbelltown Community Preschool who worked to get this project over the line,’’ Mr Warren said.[/social_quote]

Campbelltown community preschool director Heather Kilgour said members and staff were grateful for the support of Greg Warren and Campbelltown City Council.

“ Without their support we would still be exploring avenues to access funds to enable us to upgrade the playground surfaces,’’ Ms Kilgour said.

“The difference it has made is not just the aesthetics but also the safety for all who visit or attend the preschool.

“The children’s excitement to the newly laid rubber soft fall was absolute delight with comments such as, wow, this is amazing, thank you, we love it.”
