NDIS
Knowledge: Campbelltown Library will be the venue for an NDIS information session this Thursday, October 22 from 6pm.

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is a once in a lifetime improvement to the way disability services are provided across Australia.

It will incredibly enhance the life of people with disabilities, their parents and carers, their families and everyone else in the community.

The July 1 start of NDIS services in Western Sydney and the Blue Mountains saw the beginning of the full scheme roll out of the NDIS.

Macarthur will be one of the next regions with the NSW Government announced this week that the NDIS will roll out across South West Sydney from July 1, 2016.

The NDIS combined with the NSW Government’s commitment to an individual funding model through Ageing, Disability and Home Care (ADHC), means a lot of positive changes will happen in the next two years across NSW.

“Every day we are fielding questions about the NDIS, what it means and what families need to do,’’ says Katharine Carney, the executive manager at The Disability Trust, which will hold an information session in Campbelltown this coming week.

“Our information sessions will give people the information they need to understand the scheme and work out how they can be a part of the NDIS when it starts,’’ Ms Carney said.

[social_quote duplicate=”no” align=”default”]“A little bit of information can make a big difference for people. For example, one of the principles of the NDIS is that everyone will get what is reasonable and necessary for them to live the life they choose.[/social_quote]

“Many parents and carers have found that re‐assuring.”

The Disability Trust is holding a community information session on the NDIS to ensure up to date information is available to those who need it.

The session will be held at Campbelltown City Library between 6pm and 7.30pm next Thursday, October 22.

The information is relevant for people with a disability and carers of people with a disability, although everyone is welcome to attend.

It is a chance for people to come along and discover everything they would like to know about the NDIS and what it means for people living in South West Sydney.

It will include:

• The latest update on the progress of the NDIS;

• What you can be doing now to get ready for the NDIS;

• What support is available;

• Case studies from the trial sites.

Tea, coffee and light refreshments will be available.
