The annual Macarthur Multicultural Children’s Festival returns to Koshigaya Park this Sunday, May 3.
It will bring together more than 50 community groups, schools and cultural organisations in a showcase of music, dance, food and cultural exchange.
Highlights include a grand parade of traditional cultural outfits and favourite characters, roving characters, and a marketplace filled with flavours, crafts and experiences from across the globe.
“The festival is much more than an event, it’s a movement grounded in hope,” says founder Brian Laul.
“It’s about helping our children see the beauty of diversity and grow up with a true sense of belonging.”
Mr Laul said the festival plays a vital role in shaping the future of the community.
“At a time when the world can feel divided, this festival reminds us what’s possible when communities come together with open hearts,” he said.
“Through culture, creativity and connection, we are shaping a more inclusive and united future, starting with our youngest generation.”
This year’s festival – which will be co-directed by Ronna Guzman – will launch a Cultural Showcase, spotlighting the Philippines and celebrating its unique arts, attractions and flavours.
Ms Guzman said the initiative would deepen cultural connection.
“This festival reflects the community we are proud to be part of, diverse, welcoming and full of heart,” she said.
“We are especially excited to introduce the Cultural Showcase this year. It’s a beautiful way to celebrate the richness each culture brings to our shared Australian identity.”
