An early Christmas present for local men’s sheds

Some local men’s sheds will be bigger and better next year after successfully applying for federal government funding.

Tahmoor, Bargo, Menangle, Colo Vale, Bundanoon, Narellan and Hill Top men’s sheds will receive funding would all receive grants from the national shed development program.

“This is an early Christmas gift for these men’s sheds,’’ says the federal member for Hume Angus Taylor.

The successful men’s sheds are all in his electorate.

“This funding round helps men’s sheds to buy tools and equipment, support community projects and training, maintain or develop their buildings, or create local activities to improve men’s health,’’ Mr Taylor said.

“These grants will mean a lot to the members of the sheds and their broader communities, and I congratulate them on their success,’’ said Mr Taylor, pictured above at Menangle men’s shed.

  • Tahmoor Uniting Men’s Shed will receive $3,800, which will be used for carbatec cabinet saw and sliding table assembly.
  • Bargo Men’s Shed receives $1,813 for a computer, printer and smart TV.
  • Menangle Men’s Shed receives a $1,130 for a small water tank and pump.
  • Men’s Shed Narellan receives $2,000 for a drill press.
  • The Hill Top Men’s Shed receives $2,236 for PPE equipment.
  • Bundanoon Men’s Shed receives $4,070 for shed improvement work.
  • Colo Vale Men’s Shed receives $2,200 for a defibrillator.

All men’s sheds can apply for funding and grants up to a total of $10,000, with priority given to those operating in disadvantaged areas.
