The Federal Member for Macarthur, Russell Matheson, has personally congratulated the Sydney University’s Centre for Carbon, Water and Food in Camden for receiving $3.9 million from the Australian Government to fund a new research hub to foster greater collaboration between researchers and industry.
Mr Matheson visited the centre this week.
“I wanted to say congratulations to Professor Mark Adams, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture and Environment, Associate Professor Brent Kaiser and all the staff and students,’’ Mr Matheson said.
He said the grant would go toward establishing a new research hub in Camden.
The ARC Research Hub for Legumes for Sustainable Agriculture will aim to provide Australian growers and industrial stakeholders with improved plant materials to maximise production, environmental sustainability and profitability.
Professor Adams said that “this investment, coupled with contributions from the Grains Research and Development Corporation, marks a new era in research into legumes, one of the world’s most important crops.”
