A 27 year old man has faced court after he was charged over the alleged sexual and indecent assault of a young female relative earlier this year.

Detectives from the Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad commenced an investigation last month following reports a young girl had been indecently assaulted by a male relative.

Following extensive investigations, detectives arrested a 27-year-old man at Campbelltown Police Station yesterday morning (Monday, July 2).

The man was charged with three counts of aggravated indecent assault, and aggravated sexual intercourse with a person aged between 10 and 14.

Police will allege that the man indecently and sexually assaulted the girl when she was in his care in January of this year.

The man was refused bail to appear at Campbelltown Local Court late yesterday.

The Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad is comprised of detectives who are specially trained to investigate matters against children and adults, including sexual assault, serious physical abuse, and extreme cases of neglect.
