Major political parties in big trouble with the voters

Major parties in big trouble.
Major parties need to hear what the people who voted for Pauline Hanson have to say.

Pauline Hanson, Derryn Hinch and Nick Xenophon are not names associated with the major parties.

Yet they were extremely popular at Saturday’s election.

At the same time support for the Coalition and Labor continued to decline with one in four voters looking elsewhere.

But why are Australian voters deserting the majors and flocking to the minors like Hanson and Hinch?

Xenophon is a bit easier to understand as most of his support came from his local state of South Australia.

But he is also a big campaigner against poker machines and gets a lot of support for that.

What all three have in common is that they hold views shared by many people in our community.

The big parties are in trouble and have nobody but themselves to blame.

If they want to arrest their decline, and stop people like Pauline Hanson getting electoral support, here’s our Top 5 of what they have to start doing:

Number 1: Listen to the people, dummy.

Number 2: Stop taking voter support for granted.

Number 3. Stop telling lies or making promises you have no intention of keeping.

Number 4. Voters are not interested in personality fights, just policies.

Number 5. Show respect for your opponents because nobody has a monopoly on wisdom.
