Macarthur BMX club will be able to host international level events when stage two of the Kirkham Park BMX facility is completed.

A $2.79 million grant awarded to Camden Council will go towards the construction of an 8-metre start hill for the international level BMX racetrack, off road sprint area and recreational jump park and pump park.

After joining premier Gladys Berejiklian and Camden mayor Theresa Fedeli at Kirkham Park for the announcement earlier this week, Member for Camden Peter Sidgreaves congratulated Camden Council on receiving the grant which will help provide this sporting infrastructure.

“Sport is a vital part of our community,” Mr Sidgreaves said.

“Construction of stage 2 of the Kirkham Park BMX facility will enable not only our residents to enjoy the benefits of this top facility but will enable Camden to host international level events.”

The grant was part of round two of the NSW Government’s Greater Sydney sports facility fund.

Acting sport minister Geoff Lee said the fund would provide many benefits to NSW.

“There will be new pitches and grandstands, female friendly facilities and multiple courts for disability sports,” Mr Lee said.

“We are contributing to projects valued at a total of $120 million across Greater Sydney which will help stimulate the economy through jobs and investment.

“Renovating and renewing local sport infrastructure plays a vital role in keeping communities healthy, active and inclusive.”
