Last week’s traffic switch on Elizabeth Drive – M12 motorway marked an important milestone in this vital road infrastructure project.

The traffic switch on Elizabeth Drive enabled moving traffic from the current road to the new Elizabeth Drive overpass.

This will also allow for the continued construction of the M12 Motorway which, when completed, will provide a direct connection to the Western Sydney Airport from other major roads such as the M5 and M7.

The Federal Government has committed $1.6 billion to the $2 billion project, with the remaining funding provided by the NSW Government.

The M12 will serve as a major access route for all road users and will provide an estimated $6.4 billion in economic benefits to the local community and the national economy.

The motorway is expected to be completed by late 2026, in conjunction with the opening of the Western Sydney Airport.

Anne Stanley, the federal member for Werriwa, attended the traffic switch ceremony last Wednesday, along with State MP Nathan Hagarty and NSW roads minister John Graham.

“It was a privilege to represent the federal minister for infrastructure to mark such an important milestone for the M12 Motorway,’’ Ms Stanley said.

“Our community has grown significantly over the past few years and will soon be home to the new Western Sydney Airport, so it is welcome to see crucial transport infrastructure like the M12 being delivered.

“The M12 motorway forms part of the Albanese Government’s commitment to deliver the vital transport infrastructure that our community deserves,” Ms Stanley said.
