Don’t be afraid to ask for help and always put your family first.

That is the advice Serena Ryan would give to mothers of young children thinking about becoming “mumpreneurs’’ – starting their own enterprise.

Serena Ryan of Serena Dot Ryan has been nominated for the 2016 St George Banking Group AusMumpreneur Awards.

She will find out on August 14 if she is the Australian mumpreneur of the year

The AusMumpreneur Awards are presented by the AusMumpreneur Network.

They celebrate and recognize Australian mums in business achieving outstanding success in areas such as business excellence, product development, customer service and digital innovation.

The awards are designed to recognize the growing number of women who successfully balance motherhood and business in a way that suits their life and family.

Serena Ryan, who comes from Ingleburn, is a digital marketer with 12 years of experience.

In 2014 she gave up her job in the city and turned an idea into the business called Serena Dot Ryan.

The idea being to help as many people as possible work smarter in business through personalised digital education.

Since creating her business she has helped more than  70 local business understand the world of digital marketing.

At first Ms Ryan ran the business from home but now she has an office in the new epicentre of the Macarthur region, Oran Park.

She now employs others to help her realise her vision that every business can work smarter through digital education.

Getting the balance right brings benefits

Ms Ryan says that there are many benefits to balancing business and motherhood.

The winners of the 2016 St George Banking Group AusMumpreneur Awards will be announced at an awards dinner at Crown Casino, Melbourne on August 14.
