Local derby hangs in the balance after day one

A five wicket haul from Brock Larance has kept the Camden Campbelltown Ghosts in the game against Fairfield Liverpool Lions on Saturday at Raby Sports Complex.

Among his victims were the two visiting batsmen who well on their way to three figures.

Luke Ohrynowsky (71) and Arjun Nair (61) were the only two Liverpool batters to go past 50 in the local derby.

When Larance took their wickets it turned the match in favour of the home side.

However the Ghosts will still need to bat well to reach the 257 required for victory when the teams return to Raby for day two this coming Saturday.

Fairfield Liverpool won the toss and decided to bat first in the 2020-21 round two clash.

The visitors were all out for 256, made from 94.5 overs.

They lost two wickets at 87, but from then it was a case of slow, steady progress for the visitors.

For the Ghosts Brock Larance was the shining light, finishing with 5/67 from his 19 overs.

Spinner Tanveer Sangha chimed in with three vital wickets.

He finished with 3/43 off a total of 28 overs, which included 12 maidens.

Young Leumeah allrounder Jackson Isakka bowled five overs which cost him 27 runs.

Both clubs suffered round one defeats and will be keen to win this game to be one and one after two rounds.

The match resumes at Raby next Saturday with play to start from 10.30am.
