More than 10,000 people attended Liverpool Council’s New Year’s Eve celebrations at Grand Flaneur Beach, Chipping Norton Lake, making it one of the best attended in many years.
Mayor Ned Mannoun hailed the success of the night, saying it ushered in another great year forward for Liverpool.
The ARIA award winning Justice Crew, along with Team9Lives, Scott McRae’s Friday on my Mind, DJ Deepak, plus aerialists and dancers took to the stage to perform, with rides, food stalls and a fantastic fireworks display rounding off the evening.
Liverpool City Mayor Ned Mannoun thanked the community for supporting the event and for making it a relaxed and enjoyable evening for families.
“From Justice Crew to the fireworks and the delicious food, the New Year’s Eve celebration at Chipping Norton Lake was a great success. I’m pleased that residents and visitors turned out in great numbers to celebrate the New Year as a community at this family friendly event – thank you to everyone who came along.
“We were delighted to have Channel 7’s 6pm News do a live cross from the event on the evening, recognising our New Year’s Eve celebrations as one of Sydney’s best.
“For the first time at this event, there were free shuttle buses running on the night from Liverpool train station, Warwick Farm train station, Warwick Farm Racecourse and the Lake, which I’m pleased to say made it easier for families to link in with public transport to get to and from the event.
“The success of cuncil’s New Year’s celebrations marks a great start to 2015, which is set to be an exciting year for Liverpool with the Macquarie Mall, Bigge Park and CBD refurbishment works getting under way, plus the return of the popular Liverpool Night Markets on February 7, and lots of other exciting projects. I wish everyone a happy and prosperous year and look forward to seeing you out and about in the community.”
