Fun for young and old: There’s plenty on offer at the Liverpool Festival in Woodward Park starting from this weekend.

The annual Liverpool Festival is back this Friday at Woodward Park for three weekends of fun filled thrills and spills.

While the carnival atmosphere, the entertainment and fireworks will still be a big part of this year’s festival, new events and attractions mean there is even more to look forward to in 2015, including the Festival of Light during the last weekend.

Highlights of this year’s festival, which will run on Friday, Saturday and Sunday each week until the final day, Sunday, November 1, include the Fiji Independence Day celebrations this weekend.

The Prime Minister of Fiji – Rear Admiral Josaia Voreqe Bainimarama, known commonly as Frank Bainimarama – and other dignitaries will be attending the celebrations as will members of the large Fijian community of Liverpool and the south west region.

As well as the Fijian party, the festival will over the next three weeks offer 90 stalls, carnival, stage entertainment and fireworks.

On the second weekend the festival will offer a mix of carnival fun, a circus show – as well as a circus skills workshop.

Another highlight will be the Liverpool Festival art competition and exhibition offering $1000 in prizemoney.

And on Sunday, October 25 the Big Dash of Colour Fun Run will be held at 4pm.

Sponsored by The Whitlam Centre and OCS Fun Pty Ltd and held in conjunction with the 2015 Liverpool Festival, the aim of the fun is to promote exercise, good health and good fun to the children, youth and adults of Liverpool.

Run, walk or stroll around the 2km circuit, past the colour stations where you will be doused in colourful powder. Wear a white t-shirt to show up your colours. White t-shirts will be on sale at the event.

This sounds like a fun and rewarding community event and the entry fee of $10 will be donated to YMCA.

At the finish line, all entrants who come to the Whitlam Centre tent and participate in the festival survey will receive $20 worth of ride coupons for the Liverpool Festival rides – donated by OCS Fun Pty Ltd, and go in the draw to win a mini iPad. Whitlam Centre memberships can also be won.

Get your family and friends together for a fun filled day at the 2015 Liverpool Festival and support your community.
