Camden has earned positive results in a national liveability survey. The results confirm what local residents already know, that Camden is a pretty good place to live.

The Liveability Census by PlaceScore polled residents of local government areas across the country.

It found Camden was ahead of the NSW and Australian averages in seven of the nine categories.

The Camden area beat the average on character, environmental sustainability, movement, community, housing and development, open space and management and safety.

Most highly noted for the Camden area against the national benchmark was the quality of the built environment – design and construction of homes, shops, schools – and sustainable urban design (water sensitive design, transport-oriented design, sustainable building design, density).

Camden also got top marks for the general condition of public open space such as street trees, footpaths and parks, and access and safety of walking, cycling and/or public transport – signage, paths, lighting.

Mayor of Camden, Cr Ashleigh Cagney thanked everyone who took the survey.

“It’s very pleasing to see where Camden sits compared to the state and national average and it just confirms what I hear from residents day in and day out,” she said.

“I’d like to thank everyone who took part. It’s only by hearing what you think of the Camden area that we’re able to find out your priorities and any areas where we can improve.”
