Police have confiscated a Lamborghini after two men were detected allegedly street racing at Chipping Norton overnight.

About 8.45pm yesterday (Friday, July 25), police from the Liverpool Proactive Crime Team were patrolling Newbridge Road. Police will allege that they observed a black Lamborghini Gallardo and a white Mitsubishi Lancer Evo accelerate harshly from a set of traffic control lights in a street race.

The vehicles were travelling side by side at more than 120 kph in the 70 kph zone between Moorebank Avenue and Epsom Road.  There were several other vehicles on Newbridge Road which were passed at speed.

The two male drivers 33 and 38-years-old were arrested without incident. Both were issued with court attendance notices for street racing and exceeding the speed limit by more than 45 kph. The driving licences of both men were also suspended.

They will appear at Liverpool Local Court on 27 August 2014. The Lamborghini was seized pending further inquiries.
