Greg Warren, the Labor Party’s endorsed candidate for the seat of Campbelltown, says his new leader is a breath of fresh air.
“In fact Luke Foley has already been a help to me as I supported the bid for Campbelltown to become a regional city,’’ Mr Warren said this morning.
He was speaking in the wake of Luke Foley being named leader of the Labor Party in NSW less than three months out from the state election.
“I like how under Luke Foley we will deal with issues on their merits and not just oppose everything the government does,’’ Mr Warren said.
Mr Warren, who will take on the sitting Liberal Party member Bryan Doyle, said he wanted to see Labor invest more in TAFE courses for tradies, plus boost pediatric care and mental health resources.
“It’s all about getting a better deal for Campbelltown; this is the only way I look at any issues,’’ Mr Warren said.
Mr Foley issued a media statement yesterday, in which he said: “It is with pride and humility that I assume the leadership of Australia’s oldest and most storied political party, NSW Labor.
“On this day, I look to the future. I will lead a modern Labor Party that brings forward positive plans to address the challenges facing our state.
“The party I lead will be a party of solutions, and never a mere party of protest. I bring to this job ideas, energy and, above all, my Labor values.
“Those values are timeless and are a fair go for all, a decent life for everyon and a helping hand to those most in need.
“My priorities as leader will be to create new jobs in all of our suburbs and regions, invest in our hospitals, schools and TAFE and protect our natural environment.’’
