
Bradbury resident Heather Rouen was one of six South Western Sydney residents named in the King’s Birthday honours on the weekend.
Mrs Rouen received a Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) in the General Division for service to sport through a range of roles.
These included serving the Sydney South West School Sports Association as marshall in primary and secondary students championships and cross country competition since 2005.
She was also the swimming team manager during 2006-2022, water polo convener and manager, 2006-2019, and diving convener, 2018-2022.
Mrs Rouen was made a life member in 2023, and has been a member of the association since 1981.
Other achievements include:
· Secondary Sports Award, NSW Department of Education School Sport Unit, 2023. NSW Combined High Schools Sports Association
· Starters assistant, athletics, since 2005.
· Selector, Water Polo International tour, 2019 and 2020.
Her community contribution includes being a Fisher’s Ghost mascot for the Fisher’s Ghost Festival from 1999 to 2014.

Kylie Pussell, the Miracle Babies Foundation co-founder and chief executive officer since 2017, has received a Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) in the General Division for service to community health, particularly through neonatal support.
The Harrington Park resident was foundation secretary, 2009-2017, having been a co-founder in 2005.
She has also been a member of the Global Alliance for Newborn Care since 2017.
Ms Pussell is a former member of the Perinatal Palliative Care Special Interest Group, Perinatal Society of Australia and New Zealand.
She is also a life member, coach and former president of the Camden RSL Netball Club.

Bargo resident Evelyn McDonald received a Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) in the General Division, for service to the community of Wollondilly.
The founding member and inaugural treasurer since 1986 of the Wollondilly Riding for the Disabled, Mrs McDonald is also a life member.
She has also been a volunteer for Meals On Wheels, Picton, for 20 years.
Mrs McDonald was also the treasurer of Wollondilly Pony Club for nine years.

Edward Gillroy, of Narellan Vale, also received a Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) in the General Division for service to the community of Camden.
He was Macarthur Lions Club president, 2006-2007, and 2017, a member for 20 years and named Lion of the Year in 2021.
A current member of St Johns Anglican Church, Mr Gillroy is also a member of the Australian Justice of the Peace association and the current authorising officer at Camden Library.
He served in the Australian Army, 1955-1960.
In 2015 he was named Australia Day citizen of the year by Camden Council.

Kathleen Smith, of Lurnea, received the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) in the General Division for service to history preservation with the Liverpool Genealogy Society.
Mrs Smith, a founding member since 1987, served in a number of roles, including president, vice president, treasurer, committee member, librarian and volunteer.
She is also a life member and current volunteer of Liverpool and District Historical Society.
Mrs Smith was a researcher for Looking Back at Liverpool: An Oral History of the Liverpool Region 1900 to 1960, Liverpool City Council, 1985.
In 2021 she received an Order of Liverpool award.

The late Bob Fleeton of Moorebank has received a Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) in the General Division for service to sports administration, and to the community of Moorebank.
He was Moorebank Sports Club president 1995-2019, and 2020-2021, and the founding president in 1994.
He was also the co-founder in the early 1990s of Moorebank Rams junior rugby league football club and served as president, 1975-1994.
The annual Bob Fleeton Education Scholarship is named in his honour by the Moorebank Sports Club.
