Studying for the 2016 Higher School Certificate has been made a little easier with extended library hours.
From late September to late October, Narellan Library’s operating hours are extended on Sundays and Thursdays to provide local HSC students with further opportunities for preparation and study.
The extended opening times will provide students with an additional 39 hours of quiet study time until October 30.
The extensions are part of the Camden Council library services’ HSC program, which started in May.
Even before extended operating hours, both Narellan and Camden libraries have allowed students to pick up past exam papers from the front desks and practice in exam conditions during select times.
This service is available until November 3 and is a great study method recommended by tutors and teachers.
The library HSC program also facilitates an environment where students can boost each other’s morale.
Mayor of Camden, Councillor Lara Symkowiak, said council was dedicated to addressing student needs in the Camden LGA.
“The HSC period is a very important and stressful time in students’ lives, and council takes their wellbeing very seriously,’’ she said.
“Students tend to study in the evenings and during weekends, but the home can often be a distracting environment.
“Camden Council wishes HSC students the best of luck for their exams in October and November.
“We encourage them to make the most of the services at Camden and Narellan libraries, alongside the extended operating hours at Narellan.”
