Man in hospital after machete attack in home invasion

Police are appealing for public assistance after a man was assaulted with a machete during a home invasion near Campbelltown last night.

Shortly after 6.50pm yesterday, police were called to Fairweather Place, Eagle Vale, following reports that four men had forced entry into a house.

Police have been told a man – armed with a machete – struck one of the occupants, a 22-year-old man, on the back of the head.

The victim suffered a laceration and was rendered unconscious by the blow.

Three other occupants – two women aged 21 and 54, and a 45-year-old man – were also involved in an altercation with the men.

The assailants took a gaming console before leaving the premises and driving off in a vehicle, described as a 4WD, possibly a silver Mitsubishi Triton.

The men were described as being of Pacific Islander/Maori appearance.

The man struck by the machete was taken to Campbelltown Hospital for treatment on a non-life threatening wound.

A crime scene was established around the house by police officers.
