Four local organisations have each been presented with $500 in funding through Campbelltown City Council’s community capacity building program, which aims to support small community groups to develop programs and activities which benefit the wider community.
Mayor of Campbelltown, Cr George Brticevic, recently presented representatives of the Filipino and Friends Parish Community Association, Macfields Master Chef, Te kopu o te reo and the Macquarie Fields Homework Club with cheques at a morning tea.
Cr Brticevic congratulated the groups on their successful applications, saying their projects would provide services and activities that enriched the community.
“Council is committed to providing as much support and financial assistance as it can to help local community groups deliver projects which support, and contribute to, Campbelltown’s strong sense of community spirit,” he said.
The community capacity building program has three stages:
• A training and development program to improve governance and project management.
• Eligibility to apply for a seeding grant of up to $500 for groups that have successfully completed the training program.
• Eligibility to apply for a project grant of up to $5000 for groups that have successfully completed activities funded by a seeding grant.
The Filipino and Friends Parish Community Association will use the funding to host an end of year event to reduce isolation, Macfields Master Chef will create a sensory garden, the Te kopu o te reo will provide cultural training and the Macquarie Fields Homework Club will continue to provide students with homework assistance and a nutritious afternoon tea.
