Challenge Walk
They’re off: last year’s participants are all smiles just before the start of Challenge Walk 2015.

Walk your way to better health by registering for this year’s Campbelltown City Challenge Walk.

The popular annual walk returns to The Australian Botanic Garden, Mount Annan, on Sunday, March 13 and online entries are now open.

This year marks the 25th annual Challenge Walk, which promotes health and fitness for people of all ages and abilities.

Local residents are encouraged to be part of the milestone event – whether it be their first time or an annual tradition.

Participants can choose from either a six kilometre Fun Walk or 11 kilometre Endurance Walk around the scenic grounds of the gardens.

With 12 different age divisions, four team categories and a special wheelchair event, the Challenge Walk is great fun for everyone who enjoys the outdoors, and all finishers are eligible to share in a range of barrel draw prizes on the day.

Mayor of Campbelltown, Cr Paul Hawker, encouraged residents to join in the fun and register for the event.

Challenge Walk
The Australian Botanic Garden provides an inspirational setting for the Challenge Walk every year.

“The Challenge Walk is a popular council initiative, which promotes walking as a safe, inexpensive and convenient form of exercise, with many health benefits,” Cr Hawker said.

“For the past 25 years, the Challenge Walk has contributed to making Campbelltown a healthier community, with more and more people participating each year.

“The Challenge Walk is for all ages and abilities, so gather family and friends and register as a team, or make it competitive and challenge your work mates. Whether you choose to participate for fun or for fitness, the Challenge Walk promotes a more active lifestyle for everyone,” Cr Hawker said.

The pre-event entry fee is just $10, and participants can register online before midnight on Wednesday, March 9.

Entrants can also register by post or in person at council’s civic centre or Eagle Vale Central by 4.30pm on Wednesday, February 17, with entry forms available from February at council facilities. Last minute entries will be accepted on the day until 7.30am, at a fee of $20.

Free parking is available at the venue, or take advantage of the free Busabout shuttle service, departing from Campbelltown railway station at 7am. Free child minding for children aged four to 12 years will also be available, but must be booked via the entry form.
