While it may be the middle of a cold winter, now is the time to pull on the gardening gloves and get your greenery growing for the 2015 Campbelltown City Garden competition.

The annual competition is the perfect opportunity for residents, schools and businesses to showcase the results of their hard work in the garden.

This year’s competition promises to be better than ever, with fantastic prizes totalling almost $5,000.

Judging will naturally take place in Spring, between September 14 and 30, when flowering gardens will be in full bloom.

The competition is open to all Campbelltown local government area residents, schools and businesses.

Entries close on Monday, September 7.

Categories include Best New Garden, Most Unusual Garden, Best Sustainable Garden, Best Native Garden, Best Small/Medium Garden, Best Large Garden, Best Senior Citizen Garden and Best Backyard.

More categories include Best Edible Garden, Best Commercial/Industrial Garden and Best Educational Garden.

There is also the Anne Haddock Best Cottage Garden category, which was introduced last year in memory of one of the competition’s most successful past entrants.

Mayor of Campbelltown, Cr Paul Lake, said that well-maintained gardens contributed to the positive appearance of the city, and played a role in building strong and vibrant communities.

[social_quote duplicate=”no” align=”default”]“Whether you have a beautiful lawn, an edible garden, or something totally out of the ordinary, we encourage you to enter for your chance to win some great prizes,” Cr Lake said.[/social_quote]

Entering the competition is easier than ever, with an online entry form available via Council’s website here.
