Fire destroys truck after Hume Highway collision with semi

A truck driver was injured and taken to hospital after his vehicle collided with a semi trailer at Campbelltown just before noon today.

The semi trailer caught fire as a result of the impact of the collision and was completely destroyed.

Police say that at about 11.30am a truck carrying a skip bin, and a semi-trailer carrying gravel, collided on the Hume Highway, near the Glenlee Road overpass at Campbelltown.

The 62-year-old man driving the semi-trailer was not hurt in the crash.

The fire to the semi trailer he was driving was extinguished by Fire & Rescue NSW, however, the vehicle was destroyed.

A 40-year-old man driving the second vehicle was treated at the scene for minor injuries before being taken to Liverpool Hospital as a precaution.

Officers from Campbelltown Local Area Command attended the scene of the collision and commenced investigations.
