Who you gonna call: the ever popular Ghostbusters movie will be on the program for Fishers Flick, a new festival attraction.

It’s almost that time of year again, and Campbelltown City Council wants you to know you’re all invited to the Festival of Fisher’s Ghost, November 6-15.

Inspired by the region’s most famous ghost story, the festival is steeped in history and tradition.

This year it celebrates 60 years, making it one of the longest running community events in Australia.

A highlight of the festival, and the event that has come to signify its official opening, is the Fisher’s Ghost Street Parade.

On Saturday, November 7, from 1.30pm, the procession will make its way along Campbelltown’s main street, highlighting the diversity and vibrancy of the local community in a lively and colourful celebration.

But the fun doesn’t end with the parade.

♦ A week later enjoy the market atmosphere at the Fisher’s Ghost Street Fair in the heart of Campbelltown at Mawson Park and Queen Street on Saturday, November 14, 10am to 2pm.

It will be a shopper’s paradise, with almost 100 stalls selling food, gifts, home and lifestyle products, fashion, and lots more.

With live entertainment and a dedicated kids’ zone there will be something for all the family.

♦ A host of new attractions and rides will excite thrill seekers when the Carnival returns to Bradbury Park from Friday, November 6.

Held over two huge weekends, the carnival provides magically fun moments for young children and adrenaline fuelled action for ride fanatics.

The highlight will be a spectacular fireworks display at 9pm on both Saturday nights.

Everyone loves a parade.
Everyone loves a parade.

♦ Fisher’s Gig, the annual youth music festival, will entertain audiences at Bradbury Oval on Saturday, November 7, 2pm to 9pm.

Featuring a host of local acts, performing alongside nationally acclaimed artists, the event has gained a reputation for launching young music careers and showcasing the breadth of talent that exists in the Macarthur region.

Kids can engage in creepy and creative fun at Campbelltown Arts Centre on Sunday, November 8, 10am to 2pm, when Fisher’s Kids transforms the sculpture garden into a play extravaganza for kids aged from three to 12.

It’s free, and guaranteed to stimulate their senses and unleash their imagination.

♦ A ghoulish night of ghosts, zombies and paranormal characters is sure to entertain the whole family when the newest event in the festival’s schedule, Fisher’s Flicks, launches at Bradbury Park on Friday, November 13.

This free, outdoor cinema event will screen the animated feature ParaNorman at 7.30pm, followed by the original Ghostbusters movie at 9pm.

Both movies are rated PG. Refreshments will be available, but bring your own chairs and picnic blankets!

♦ Other festival highlights include the Fisher’s Extreme Showcase for skate board and BMX enthusiasts, the Fisher’s Ghost Art Award and the annual Marsdens Law Group Fisher’s Ghost Fun Run.
