Never a dull moment when the enigmatic Bulls are out the gate

Twenty games into their second season in the A-League, what we have learned is that the Macarthur FC matches are not for the faint hearted.

Some games they start like a house on fire and then fall away to lose.

In others they look lethargic and set to be smashed 8-0 or something ridiculous like that, but then bounce back to life to either draw or win the game.

The script wasn’t quite like that last night when the Bulls prevailed 4-2 over Perth Glory at Campbelltown Stadium.

But it wasn’t far off, either.

The visitors sprinted to a 2-0 lead before the 20 minute mark, and indeed scored their first goal inside the first 60 seconds.

Actually, the Bulls were quite lively, but Perth, who haven’t won a game in 10 rounds, were desperate, to say the least.

Ulises Davila, the Bulls skipper, who is in tip top form of late, had a blinder, scoring a penalty, winning another one, converted by Craig Noone, to bring his team back into the game at 2-2.

But the inconsistency or maybe it’s more accurate to call it a temporary fade out, reared its ugly head again in the second half when Perth dominated play and looked for all money headed for victory.

When midfielder Charles M’Mombwa was sent off after getting a second yellow card 66 minutes into the game, the Bulls were really under the pump.

But as is the way for this Ante Milicic coached side, they hung in despite some close calls which could have seen them 4 or 5-2 behind.

Then with around seven minutes left, Davila’s brilliance was back to the fore when he beautifully set up Al Hassan Toure for the third goal for the Bulls.

In the sixth and final minute of stoppage time, Toure was the man who provide a brilliant pass for Moudi Najjar to make it 4-2.

Along with the one point from the 2-2 draw with Sydney FC mid week2, the three points from last night’s match helped to elevate the Bulls back into the top six.

Macarthur FC are third, on 29 points from 20 matches played, but in a congested area behind the two runaway leaders of the competition, Melbourne City on 43 and Western United on 38.

There are three teams hot on the heels of Bulls, trialling by just one point.

The Bulls are off to Adelaide to take on United this Friday night. The local side is one of the three teams one point behind Macarthur FC on the ladder.

As for how the enigmatic Bulls will perform, your guess is as good as ours.
